Barn-style doors (also known as barn doors) are one of our most popular products. A construction style that may have been considered to be a passing "flavour of the month" in interior design, has proven itself to be a timeless classic.
Whether they are side hung, or used as sliders these barn doors are great for separating one space from another.
What we need to know
While barn-style door construction hasn't really changed since medieval times, there's a few bits of information we need to get before we can get started on your door.
Macrocarpa, poplar & redwood are our most popular and cost-effective options, but we have a wide range of timber to select from if you are looking for something unique.
We need to know the height and width of your barn door. The thickness is generally set at 44mm. As a general rule for sliding doors, take the measurements of the opening and add 50mm to the height, and 100mm to the width to ensure an even overlap.
Our standard barn door design uses a horizontal cross peice, and your choice of 'Z' pattern, or 'arrow' pattern diagonals.
Our panelling is run in two sizes - 130mm wide and 85mm wide. We think narrower doors suit narrower boards, and wider doors suit the wider boards - but it's totally up to you.
